7-As Mulbin’s Descendant I Hereby Claim my Inheritance

In the morning they wake up to find Gilby already examining Mulbin's scroll while preparing everyone's breakfast. The best I can tell his grave marker is going to be found near the peak of that mountain and points to a mountain that is visible in the distance on the other side of the silver river. They load into the cart and go through Culhaven to exit at the north gate road where there is a stone bridge that crosses the silver river. As they travel along the road they pass a farmer and his wife in a cart of there own and can hear the wife nag the husband as they pass by. “I'm trying my best, woman! These old roads are a mess, it's not like I'm trying to hit every pot hole!” The wife huffs in response, “Well, you better be more careful! We can't afford to lose any more crops or livestock because of your reckless driving.” The group can't help but chuckle at the bickering couple as they continue on their journey.

As the group traveled north, they eventually reached a point where the road began to turn away from the mountain they were trying to reach. In order to continue their journey towards the mountain, they took the cart off the road and searched for pathways that would lead them closer to their destination. However, the terrain became increasingly difficult to traverse as they continued, with the path growing steeper and more difficult to navigate. Eventually, they reached a point where they couldn't go any further with the cart, and so Ethan and Savean decided to stay with it while the others continued on foot up the mountain. After some time, they finally reached a clearing at the peak of the mountain, where they were greeted with a stunning view of Culhaven and the silver river below. From their vantage point, they could see the grave marker they were searching for – an obelisk that had become overgrown with nature. While Irena stayed to enjoy the view, Gilby and Reduzia worked to clear a path to the peak and around the obelisk.

As Gilby approached the obelisk, he noticed that it was covered in intricate runes and a plaque that told the story of Mulbin, a great warrior and leader of his people. According to the plaque, Mulbin had fought bravely in a great war and was buried on this mountain to watch over his people. Gilby placed his hand on the obelisk and recited the key phrase from the scroll: “As Mulbin's descendant, I hereby claim my birthright.” As soon as the words left his lips, the runes on the obelisk began to glow and a ghostly image of a halfling warrior appeared before them.

“You, descendant of Mulbin, must prove yourself worthy of my inheritance by proving your strength and wisdom. Defend yourself.” As the image disappears three skeletons manifest, one next to each of them! The skeletons were bony and brittle, with long, curved swords clutched in their hands. The one next to Irena held a bow, its string drawn taut as it aimed. The other two skeletons had their swords raised as they prepared to attack. The one with the bow firing at Gilby. The arrow strikes him, causing him to stumble and fall to one knee. Despite the injury, Gilby grits his teeth and rallies, determined to prove himself worthy and claim his inheritance.  Irena quickly destroys the archer skeleton with a burst of magic missiles from her fingertips. While Reduzia takes on the skeleton closest to her, using her fighting skills to deliver precise blows that shatter its bones. As Gilby, faces off against the remaining skeleton, his muscles straining as he delivers powerful blows. The skeleton is no match for Gilby's strength and it soon crumbles to the ground. The group stands victorious, panting from the intense battle.

The ghostly visage of Mulbin reappears, impressed by their strength and bravery. “You have proven yourselves worthy,” he says. “I am proud to have you as my descendant. May these items serve you well on your journey.” and With a final nod, the warrior disappears and the plaque pops open revealing several magic items which Gilby shares among his friends.
