I made it to the town of Fandolin today. Which was in the full swing of their autumn festival. However, they were extra jubilant because a long-lost spell forge was found and reclaimed. I had the good fortune to sit at the inn with the adventurers who were hired to find it and clear it out. The place is now owned by Gundren Rockseeker. It is a magical item forge that facilitates the creation of magic items and weapons. I am sure that they will be getting some good contracts from the local government.
Of interest is Tael (Tail) a dark elf that recently began hanging around with them even though they repeatedly disparage her. After dinner at the inn, they invited me to walk with them which gave me a better chance to observe this group. They stopped at a magic items vendor to ask about a necklace that just become animate and found out that it was the hand of Orcus, a demon Lord of undeath! Then while I was buying a simple ring of jumping he stole a random simple magic item without knowing what it was and ran off. Is this his typical behavior or due to the influence of the demon hand? In any case, Orcus can not be given access to our plane.
The dark elf broke off from the group and met with a member of the local thieves' guild. Is she working with them and setting up the group as a target or does she have some other business with them?
In any case, they will be heading out to Neverwinter soon. Perhaps I should follow to keep an eye on the hand of Orcus, but that may look suspicious because I told them I just came from Neverwinter.
